Product description
The California Framer combines features of two of our most popular tools into a rugged, heavy construction hammer. The smoothly swept claws were borrowed from our "999" Rip Hammer, and the extra large striking face, hatchet eye and sturdy handle are a heritage of our Rigbuilder's Hatchet.

It's a big piece of American steel at the end of a big piece of American hickory. How could you go wrong?
To me this feels like a heavy hammer. Its' balance is very far forward and its' handle shape seems to favour power over control. Once you get it going though, it makes short work of pounding nails.
If you're after an old school framing hammer with everything you need and nothing you don't, this won't let you down.

Very nice hammer, swings beautifully. The finish is a bit rough but I don't think it affects the quality. (I bought an estwing before this, the finish was impeccable even though not American made, so coming from Vaughan USA I expected better.)

Hasn't let me down yet and it's been a year. I work it hard everyday as I am a civil carpenter. I smash sh*t and pry on forms with it on a regular basis. Great hammer! Would buy it again.

I heard some good things with this brand so I given it a try. But after I received the hammer, I am very disappointed with the workmanship of this hammer: 1) the magnet isn’t even on the Center of the head 2) the finishing is horrible. And people complaining about things that was made in China? This was made in the U.S.A. Quality is very bad. As a tradesman who refuse to put out work that is nothing but to be proud of. This hammer doesn’t fit me. I will contact them and see if they will send me a better one as this one belong to the garbage.we shall see if they care about their customer or not.

Dont pay 70$ here what a rip off. I bought mine at Rona two years ago and I've only broken the handle once. This is my far my favorite framing hammer for the record, just dont buy it here

Good hammer from the price, it’s not your experience hammer like stiletto or Martinez but you know what if you compare a 300+ dollars to that I’ll take that any day … i just wish they would make more versions of this hammer like 16oz or even a titanium heads maybe I saw more hammers by them that you no longer can find that I wished I could try..

Great design, the axe style handle really helps to generate power. Finish work on the hammer head was good, but not super, but then again it's a less than $30 hammer. The blue finish was great, the silver polishing of the sides a little rough but not horrible, my Estwing and Stanley stuff a bit better. The waffle face is decent. The magnet nail starter is well fitted.
The handle was fine, well fitted with good grain.
19ozs feels right, neither too heavy nor too light.
For those that have never handled one, be aware it is a long hammer.

Very good "light" framer. Only a 19 oz. head but with the 17" handle it swings quite well with a good hit. Easy on the wrist and elbow for us old guys.

Being a 68 year old now retired 52 year Journeyman Carpenter, I have never been without at least one of these. Always have a backup ! As long as you get one that is properly balanced, these are 16 penny driving machines, that won't kill your elbow. I now have 3 , 2 used. and now a brand new one, which at My age, I'll never get My monies worth out of it. But I will gladly pass all 3 onto My highly skilled Daughter, and not so hands on Son [ musician ] . I own Diablos, Harts, Dead On"s , and still would rather use this hammer at one 5th the cost of the other. And no annoying ping when striking 16 penny nails. Do Yourself a favor, buy several at this price, and learn how to swing it !!
