I enjoyed that it came pre-filled. Not sure with what and how old that salt and pepper was. The product is okay, overpriced. I have small hands and I think it is a bit large and heavy. Sometimes when I turn the salt, the silver piece (one that covers the glass and has the preview window) shifts. Bit hard to explain but the point is that this is not a very high quality product.

I purchased one of these combo salt and pepper mills through warehouse deals for about $15. Great deal unfortunately it was damaged. The manufacturer sent a replacement free of charge, very happy with their customer service. The mills work great, they make nice fine pepper or salt and also coarse if you want. Convenient to have both in one container.

This combo salt and pepper grinder is as functional and easy to use as it is classy looking on any dining room table. Made of brushed stainless steel and glass, it is very solid, plenty large, and rather heavy. The grind of both salt crystals or pepper corns of most any type or size is consistent, easy, and fully adjustible from medium coarse through powder fine. The heavy duty components should last a very long time.
Some other reviewers have complained that the stainless steel cover is difficult to remove for refilling the chambers. Since it came already loaded and the chambers are quite large, I have not yet had the need to refill. So, I guess that's a little chore for some time in the future. It looks simple, but looks can be deceiving.
That caveat said, this combo grinder seems to be EXCELLENT, and a big step up from the cheap plastic combo grinder it replaced.

As a S&P grinder this is an icon. Extremely functional and beautiful. Can’t recommend it enough.
