How to use the Tact Bivvy (verified owner) –
You buy emergency gear thinking you’ll never actually have to use it. Last night while hiking a backcountry trail alone, I missed a turn and wound up heading in the wrong direction. By the time I realized my mistake, the sun was about to set and there was no time to double back. I was stuck in a huge boulder field and having found a relatively flat rock with a large boulder behind to have some shelter, I cut some leafy tree branches to make a pad to sleep on and hunkered down in this bivvy for the night. It was by no means a comfortable sleeping arrangement, but the bivvy kept me warm enough that I didn’t spend the entire night shivering. It saved me from a completely miserable experience – bad enough as it was, it could’ve been much worse. It was also comforting to know that if it was to start raining, the bivvy would keep me dry.
I learned the hard way that while tucking your head under is nice and warm, the condensation from your breath will make the interior of the bivvy dripping wet. Crying while inside the bivvy also did not help at all. For the rest of the night I kept it wrapped around my head like a hood, leaving a hole for my face, and was still warm enough.
This may look like a glorified plastic bag, but it is very tough. I spent all night tossing and turning on my bed of sticks and rocks, and in the morning could only find the tiniest of punctures where I was most rough on it. The tiny punctures didn’t seem to make the bivvy any less effective in keeping me warm. There was no damage at all to the seams. Cheap mylar will tear easily and any holes will run like a cheap pair of stockings. I chose this Tact bivvy because I wanted something tougher, and it was even tougher than I expected.
Also, whether you have the orange side out or the reflective side out, it works really well to flag rescuers. I had it attached to the outside of my pack, inside out to dry the condensation off, and SAR was able to spot me easily from the air. I also couldn’t find my Fox whistle and the little one clipped to the stuff sack was surprisingly good.
All in all, this >$20 purchase is some of the best money I have ever spent in my life, and everyone should have one in their pack. It’s tiny and weighs nothing and made the single biggest difference during my awful night spent lost in the backcountry.

I have included this bivvy as part of my emergency travel survival kit. I placed mine on the coat hanger inside my truck. Peace of mind that can save a life. I think i am going to order a couple more for my first aid kit. Love it!! Good quality!!

Molto bello, veramente piccolo!! Ideale per chi non vuole portare troppo peso nello zaino! Ma per fortuna non l'ho ancora provato, spero di non doverlo fare visto che l'ho presso in caso di emmergenza. Se dovessi provarlo modificherò la recensione.

It's a great insurance policy. It's small, light and reusable. WAY better than mylar "space blankets". This thing is STRONG and if you puncture it the tear won't continue like in Mylar blankets.
Because it's so small and light it never leaves my pack and in case I get stuck or hurt (ankle problem anyone?) and have to spend a night it will help me stay relatively warm and dry. Saves me from hauling heavier options. In an emergency this also has many more uses. Don't hesitate, get one, it's a cheap insurance policy.

Lightweight decent little bivvy. Fast delivery. Large enough to keep me covered for the night. Will edit review once its been actually used /tested.

Small, compact and lightweight. Yes. I would actually have to use the bag to provide an honest review of the functionality. I would expect this bag may provide some protection in a cool moist climate from the elements for awhile but if your car broke down in a northern climate at -30C I would hope you have a good wool blanket in the trunk.

I'm hoping that this product performs as promised, because that will make the price point reasonable. At the moment I feel I may have overpaid for what looks like a slightly superior version of the $3 mylar emergency blankets. Just going by the feel of the material it seems too flimsy to stand up to much use.
Time will tell.

Haven't used it as yet, so this is just based on what I can tell by looking at it. As described in the add very light weight, seems durable similar in cost to what you would find at Sail or MEC.

I haven't opened it yet, its for emergencies only whenever I go out hiking. Seems good, very small and it is very lightweight, just what I need!

The media could not be loaded. I'm not like the people leaving a review, when I haven't even opened or tested it..
I was hesitant about this one at first, after reading some other reviews saying it was "cheap".. But I've been looking for something like this for a long time– I've never liked sleeping bags when I'm a minimalist camper, and see no need for a giant "blanket" taking up so much space in my bag.. I'm used to sleeping on the ground so it doesn't leave me that sore.. (And I chose green because I just like it blending in more with surroundings. I don't want to be noticed when camping..)
I've tried several other brands of an emergency blanket costing even more, and they were even cheaper material like the $1 mylar blankets I can buy at the local store; while online, other brands charged $20 for that same mylar blanket..
But this one actually does feel like more durable material– I can't tell what it is, but it almost feels like a "souped up" trash bag (in a good way)..
I like the black lining along the sides so I can tell where the edges are, and I am short (5'2"), so I was easily able to sit criss-cross in this bag and even use the top as a hood…
It's true I don't see it lasting forever necessarily, it's bound to rip sooner or later since it's still thinner material, but it's still a lot better than I expected for the price and I can see it lasting for the forseeable future. (Not like the $1 mylar blanket at the store, that ripped just opening it up..)
Keep in mind, there is a difference between an emergency blanket, and a sleeping bag. This offers no padding or anything of the sorts– just the very basics to keep you warm, which this is sufficient for. Especially for its size, I LOVE that it can fit in the palm of my hand; and unfolded it's about the size of a twin bed, but longer..
As far as folding it back up, I know lots complain about that, but there's something about this material that actually made getting the air out easier than I expected..
Keep in mind, main thing to remember when folding this back up, is to fold longways first. You want the only opening of the bag to be on the far side, so that when you fold/roll this one up, all the air can naturally escape from there as you fold the rest of the bag towards the opening..
(And unlike a sleeping back, this was wayyy easier to roll up..! Took a little bit of "squishing" to fit back inside the holder, but it wasn't that hard. Tinier means easier to roll up, too…)
Whistle works as well; and I don't regret my purchase… I LOVE having an emergency blanket I can fold back up and use again, when all the cheap ones have to be thrown away after one use; and this is so tiny that I'll be carrying it everywhere in my regular bag, and trust it enough to do its job…
If they could possibly use whatever the black tape is to cover the rest of the bag, I do feel that would help with more durability so this could last forever… 😁

Ideal for rucksack camping but can take a while to warm up.
