Product Description
SUNYEAH Canadian Organic Wild Rice
Canadian North Saskatchewan Ice Lake harvest Organic Wild Rice
Organic wild rice is grown in a sparsely populated glacial lake in northern Saskatchewan prairies, Canada. It is natural, organic and nutritious. Wild rice is a species of grass that produces edible seeds resembling rice. However, it tends to have a more pungent taste. The plant grows best in shallow water in small lakes and slow-flowing streams, ideally between 75-90 cm in depth. The seeds ripen in late summer, between mid-August and early September. Northern Saskatchewan is a land of forests and lakes, developed on the glacially-scoured ancient rocks of the Precambrian Shield. The pristine environment of shallow lakes and slow-moving rivers in northern Saskatchewan provides an ideal habitat for wild rice. Saskatchewan wild rice is grown and processed without the use of chemical additives, colourants, or artificial flavourings. The large kernels mature in their natural setting helped only by the sun

Natural-Wild harvested in a sparsely populated glacial lake in northern Saskatchewan unlike other cultivated "Wild Rice"
Despite its name, wild rice isn't exactly rice. Wild Rice is a tall aquatic grass ( Zizania Palustris) and the grain that can be harvested from them. The plant grows best in shallow water in small lakes and slow-flowing streams, ideally between 75-90 cm in depth. The seeds ripen in late summer, between mid-August and early September.

This Organic Wild Rice is grown in ice lakes of Northern Saskatchewan and I do like it is certified organic and GMO-free. The wild rice is easy to prepare and I chose to add it 50-50 with long grain white rice. I didn't have a recipe nor are cooking instructions included, so just prepared as if I was cooking white rice. It turned out great and I didn't need to cook it any longer than the white rice. The wild rice added some texture to the blended rice dish and the grains were chewy and not hard like other wild rice I've tried before. The taste is also great with a subtle smokey flavour, but this is quite muted and is a good choice for blending with white rice as it won't colour the taste of the white rice. What I appreciate about wild rice is the added nutrients, proteins and fiber you don't get with white rice.
Overall, this organic wild rice is easy to prepare, the grains have a good texture and taste but the price for 2lb is a bit steep. I found the best way to prepare for a simple rice dish is to cook it 50-50 with long grain white rice. It adds a nice chew to the dish, while adding nutrients, protein and fiber you only get with wild rice.

Loved this rice! It was great tasting, filling and easy to work with if you follow the instructions. I added roast pork, onion and green peppers as well as half a diced tomato. I was so full that 2 hours later I still didn't think I could move. 🙂 thanks so much for this great canadian product!!!

Not sure why, but this rice is hard to find in the big stores. The price is actually quite good on this and it's a great quality.

Far and above better than the other black rice I've tried: The minnesota rice imbued up the whole house with farm like barn scent, and even the Lumberg black had stronger smell, and this barely any smell. Nice long grains-longer than others in package, and all is clean. Comes out with pleasant smell good taste.
With pre-wash very little tint in water is observed.
Best quality on market i'd guess..

Used this product to make wild rice pheasant soup. I was pleased with the taste and texture of thr rice as were the guests of my soup creation. It is impossible to find quality wild rice anywhere local so I was pleased to get an organic, good quality product delivered to my door…..albeit pricey. Bottom line, quality begets a price. Would recommend.
