We started sprouting over 15 years ago and have experimented with it all. From elastics and cheesecloth that never properly drained, bags that drained too fast, and "rustproof" lids that rusted within a couple of weeks because the metal scratches right against the glass. Top-of-the-line 316 mesh with 1mm spacing is fully embedded in a protective ABS rim. This ensures the glass can't scratch the stainless steel, so you never have to worry about a rusty lid.

Not all sprouts prefer the same amount of light. While green leafy sprouts love indirect sunlight the whole time, you need darkness to grow long, sweet, juicy bean sprouts. Many sprouts actually prefer darker conditions, including beans, legumes, grains, and soaking nuts.
Protect your Jars
The only work at all in sprouting is holding a jar under running water for a moment, so it's not surprising that in a wet sink some extra grip could help. Fortunately, the Sun & Sprouts blackout sleeves (patent pending) both add that extra bit of grip as well as a little extra padded protection for the glass jars from accidental bumps.
