I got these so I could roughhouse with my German Shepard. I've always play-fight with him since he was a puppy and its one of his favorite ways to blow of steam. Hes good to play with, he doesn't bite super hard just his teeth can scratch up bare skin so I got these. I'm a little mixed about them. I used to use a pair of old work gloves that got worn out, but did fine. These gloves have held up really well – ive had them for about 4 months now. The leather is tough and cut resistant, the fingers are more heavily padded than the arms which is good. However these were fairly expensive and my dogs bite is powerful enough he can still easily crush my fingers, hand, wrist if he bites too hard. And the arm protection is very thin. So as for protecting you from a violent dog, I would say these are not fully adequate. If I worked at a kennel with unknown dogs for example, I would want something more. That being said, for some added cushioning and cut protection they do pretty well and are durable.

These gloves are great for small bread dogs and animals. I was working with my French mastiff. I was punctured and bleed I am am mess. These gloves reduced the blow I must say but they're not meant for large bread animals. Large bite force can still puncture through. The pressure is reduces enough that the brusing left isn't sensitive but I am covered all over my arms in marks that we not protracted from these gloves.
These gloves are not meant for professional use on aggressive dogs. My suggestion would be to get a glove that has the black leather throughout the whole glove. Money invested into gear I am noticing is the difference in your true defense against that bite.

I was wondering how good they would be but as I am a vet tech and work in a clinic we often need to protect ourselves from potential bites and scratches when cats and small dogs get upset. These work amazing everyone has tried at work and are very happy with the dexterity of them they are thick but soft on inside and easy to hold a pet in. The material is a combination of leather and denim very good quality. Cat unable to bite through gloves.

These gloves are great. I bought them so I can wrestle with my Great Dane/Lab/Doberman/Bulldog mix. He's a big boy (55KG) and, although he's gentle, he can put the hurt on when wrestling. I got these so that we can PLAY rough together without my getting TOO hurt. He can still accidentally hurt my fingers when he gets really excited but the glove prevent his INJURING me . . . while we PLAY. If he were to actually attack me while I wore these gloves, he would break my fingers and arm bones EASILY. THESE GLOVES ARE NOT FOR TRAINING ATTACK DOGS. An attack dog would easily rip your arm off gloves or no. I would, however, feel completely protected from cats, rodents, snakes, very small dogs. NOT BIRDS and NOT MEDIUM TO LARGE SIZED DOGS. But for the purpose I bought these, I'm perfectly satisfied and my pup now has a new favourite toy.

They are tight around the fingers due to the thickness of the material which is to be expected
I actually use these gloves for placing fire wood in my wood stove and they work very well, better then welding gloves (I wouldn't use these for welding though) and I use them when fighting my dog so she can be a bit more aggressive, I wouldn't use them in a serious situation ( 3 years this March)

Be warned, though, that these are not pain proof. A big dog with a strong bite can still cause pain, muted, through the thick leather, but you can still feel some of the bites.

These gloves have been a literal game changer. Resistance play with an energetic German Shepherd was fun but resulted in me getting lots of cuts and bruises. I tried tough gardening gloves but they just got blooded on day one.
