These placemats are very beautiful, much more beautiful than their picture on the webpage appears. I have been using Pimpernel for a long time, so although I just bought these, I am very familiar with their sturdiness, durability and usefulness. I like the fact that they are cork-based, that insulates quite well, if one wants to set hot things on a non-heat resistant surface. Also, they don't bent, so I often use them to place food on soft chairs, whereas if the placemat is bendable, it could have spilled. Easy to clean too.

these mats are very thick and sturdy and the pictures are clear and beautiful. This is my second set because we used the first set for so long eventually the coating wore off and he picture became damaged. I reordered the same brand just a different picture.

The birch tree scene is just what we expected and is very serene. The mats have a somewhat less glossy finish than Pimpernel mats purchased in the past, and I am wondering if they will be less durable in the long run, but we are taking very good care of them. To me they make so much more sense than fabric placemats that call for constant laundering and even ironing. These will be with us for the long run, I hope, and the scene suits us for both fall and winter.

We used to have birch trees in our yard ( since cut down) so my husband chose that pattern…not only were the placemats attractive BUT more importantly the thickness was almost twice the thickness of our older placemats…even recommended them to my daughter. Lots of patterns to select from too. Well done Pimpernel company!! Just received them so can't attest to how well they'll hold up but so far, very pleased.
