I highly recommend exfoliating first and using a tanning mitt. It’s very easy for this stuff to apply patchy. If you have big pores or KP extra product can accumulate around them and look like little brown pin pricks. It can also be streaky and uneven. But I find these negatives are minimized a lot if I exfoliate first. My skin is very dry and pills with the tanner as well if I don’t. The color is great and very similar to how I look after a day in the sun as a pale mostly white woman

I have used some of the most expensive self tanners and this still wins, every time. With acne prone skin, I never break out from this self tanner, even on my face. I love the warm undertones, and the smell is absolutely normal for a self tanner. I also find that I don’t get too much transfer to my clothes or sheets, but I have some friends who have had a different experience. Definitely worth a try for the cost!

IVE BEEN USING THIS FOR YEARS NOW. IVE USED THE MOST EXPENSIVE OF PRODUCTS AS WELL ( THOSE GENERALLY WERE THE WORSE), IM ALWAYS BEING COMPLIMENTED AS TO MY TAN ASKING IF I USE A TANNING BED! WHAT MY TRIED & TESTED PROCEDURE IS AS FOLLOWS:
#1- I PREFER A GOOD SOAKER BATH.. TO OPEN ALL OF YOUR POURS ( if you didn't know, the heat will open pours, and cold water closes them nicely), I PERSONALLY USE A HAND WASHING GLOVE WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF ABRASIVENESS TO ENSURE ALL OF THE DRY SKIN HAS BEEN ELIMINATED ( THIS IS KEY TO A PERFECT TAN) , THAN EXFOLIATING LASTLY WITH MY LOOFAH SPONGE, THEY TEND TO BE SLIGHTLY EXPENSIVE, BUT FOR SOFT PROPER CLEANING OF YOUR POURS IS WORTH IT, AND WONT DAMAGE YOUR DERMA FIRST COUPLE LAYERS AS A WASH CLOTH ETC.
UPON GETTING OUT OF THE BATH OR SHOWER, DO NOT END WITH A COLD RINSE AS I WOULD NORMALLY DO TO CLOSE ALL POURS.
#2- ALLOW YOUR SKIN TO DRY NATURALLY IF YOU CAN ( I OWN AND LIVE IN MY HOME ALONE, SO ITS EASY FOR ME TO SAY ) IF NOT, DONT RUB DRYM YET GENTLY PAT DOWN YOUR SKIN, AGAIN RUBBING DAMAGES THE DERMA, ALWAYS PAT DOWN GENTLY. ABOUT A HALF HOUR, ENSURING YOU SKIN "EVERYWHERE" IS COMPLETELY DRY,

THAN, I USUALLY START WITH APPLICATION ON MY FEET, WORKING UP. NOT USING TOO MUCH, A SMALL CPL DROPS GENERALLY IS MORE THAN REQUIRED, SPREADING BETWEEN YOUR TOES, TRYING TO BE MINDFUL OF ANKLES. WORKING UP TO MY FACE. I HAVE 2 SELF TANNING GLOVES -> ONE FOR MY BODY, THE OTHER SPECIFICALLY FOR MY FACE. BUT NOT NESSESSARY.
BUT YOU MUST EVENLY DISTRIBUTE TANNING CREAM VERY LIGHTLY ONTO YOUR SKIN. AND IF YOUR LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO WALK ABOUT YOUR HOME NEKED AS I CAN ALLOWING SELF TANNER TO DRY, AS MANY SUCH AS THIS AMAZING PRODUCT; DRY QUICKLY.
***** SIDE NOTE: BEST RESULTS ARE DOING APPLICATION AT NIGHT, JUST BEFORE BEDTIME. AS THE BODY COOLS DOWN TO ROOM TEMPS; NOTHING IS DISTURBED ( TANNING AREAS), THAT NORMALLY WOULD WITH TENDING TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE. BUT TRUST ME… YOU WILL AWAKEN TO A GORGEOUS TAN! AND BAM! ALSO, FOR INSTANCE, CHRISTMAS &NEW YEARS EVE ARE UPON US. I FEEL THAT FOR ME PERSONALLY, AND ORDERING THE DEEPEST DARKEST OF SHADE ORDERING, AND BEING IRISH,, THEREFORE EXTREMELY LIGHT SKINNED, IT ONLY TAKES 2 APPLICATION'S. I have tried many self tanners but this one is a go to. It’s not sticky and doesn’t have a strong smell like some more expensive ones. It’s a good buildable product

– only applied the day I wanted to use it
– used 3 coats and noticed a slight change in tone
– as the days went on it appear quite blotchy on my skin
– application is simple just make sure to wash hands immediately after application
– didn’t use much so a little goes a long way
– next time I will apply a coat or two day before event and then a coat on the day of

I have natural red hair and pale white skin so of course I got the mild one. It either washes off right away or just doesn’t get that dark. I was hoping for a darker tan but I can’t even tell when I apply it. For the price can’t go wrong but if you’re looking for a medium tan I’d go with the darker one.
