I am not on a fitness journey. I’m not in the gym looking for gains, and I am not looking to lose weight. I’m also not one of the people who are willing to grit my teeth and pretend that a protein bar made out of a few dates, egg white and a unicorn’s hopes and dreams actually ‘really tastes like a chocolate bar it’s like a treat!’ It isn’t. It doesn’t.
What I did want is a solution to my mid-afternoon snack. At about 1:30 pm I get peckish and usually want a dose of sweetness to get that dopamine boost to carry through to the day’s end. I wanted something dairy-free (lest my IBS scream louder than it does now), SWEET (we’re competing with a handful of peanut butter cups here), and vaguely healthy. Extra protein? Bonus. The smugness of being able to lord my accidental good decisions over others? “Oh this? It’s my superfood shake. It has pro-bi-o-tics.” Delightful.
The algorithm’s been throwing this at me for a while so I finally cracked around boxing day with their sale. I bought Peanut Butter Cup and a couple other flavors after. I am very pleasantly surprised! I’ve eaten enough ‘amazing’ protein bars and powders to know that either the industry is lying or after a certain amount of reps every day you lose your sense of taste. I’m not here to panic chug just to get it down. I want something that tastes decent, and it has met expectations! I like it. I don’t cringe drinking it. It is dessert in a glass. It’s not chalky and doesn’t have a strange aftertaste. It’s as close to tasting unhealthy as I think you can get. It will get THICK after a bit. So if you’re a slow sipper or just want it thick just wait a bit. It’ll thicken up.
Flavours I’ve Tried:
Peanut Butter Cup: SWEET. You want dessert in a glass? Here you go. Tastes like peanut butter and chocolate. My mother said ‘oh it even has crunchy peanut bits’ and I just went ‘oh wow yeah’ and quietly wondered if I’d blended long enough.
Vanilla: SWEET. Reminds me of cake batter. Add sprinkles and you’ll have a glass of confetti cake. Don’t know what cake batter tastes like? Betty Crocker is cheap, tally-ho.
Cookies and Cream: Average sweetness. Smells vaguely like mocha in powder form. Mildly confused as I mixed this up. Tastes good but it’s no oreo knock off. To me this is a pleasant vaguely malty super mild chocolate taste. It’s very non-offensive and not nearly as sweet as the other ones.
Also, just blend it. I read the reviews from others and went in assuming I should blend it and it was very clear that once powder and liquid met the twain did not want to meet so you’re better off blending it. I use a hand blender. It has a nice little cup with measurement lines. I’m sure most vessels would be fine. Mug. Bowl. Washed out margarine container (ask your nana she’s got thirty).
So there. A review from a fatty literally in it for the taste.

After reading the many favourable reviews on Amazon I decided to buy this amazingly delicious Salted Caramel Pea Protein Powder from Good Foods.
It came today in the mail and I immediately made a double batch of shakes in the blender with the following:
2 scoops protein powder
4 cups Silk unsweetened coconut milk
1/3 to 1/2 c coconut milk which added thickness and has almost zero carbs
1 cup cold spring water
1 ripe small banana which you can omit, instead of this I also use two small clementines
I blitzed it all well in the blender and WOW what a smooth, thick, exceptionally delicious protein shake!!!! I am SO happy that I took a chance and tried this protein powder!
It is perfect for my keto diet and I have found that one shake keeps me full for hours and I don’t feel at all deprived on my keto plan.
I do highly recommend that you always add 1/4 to 1/3 c of coconut milk to the shake as it eliminates the chalky texture and taste that can be a bit off-putting with only just almond milk, coconut water, or plain water. It really makes it delightful.
I recommend using this shake in place of milk in recipes or in coffee/tea… I used about a 1/3 c of the shake on Quaker Harvest Crunch cereal with 1 1/2 tsp maple syrup which is a very special treat on my keto diet.
An excellent protein powder and I plan on trying other flavours.
Full Disclosure: I did try the large bag of the vanilla protein powder but it came damaged upon delivery and the bag was somehow cut through on the bottom. I had to throw that out in the garbage as I didn’t want to risk it for safety reasons.
It’s been several days and the company won’t contact me back as they seem to be swamped with requests. This is a huge minus for me as I paid around $56.00 for the 884 gramme bag and I want a replacement from the company but zero response at all. Now I’ll have to probably bother to call customer support at Amazon Canada to help with this, and this shouldn’t be the case!
Hopefully I won’t have to… and that someone will wise up that very happy customers like me who want to buy more products shouldn’t be ignored when something goes wrong.
I also tried to place a $150.00 order online via their subscription service but no matter what I did, I couldn’t get the payment system to work and I had funds perfectly on my valid cr card and the 0.00 credit card trial fee worked perfectly fine with my bank so this is another issue that the company has ignored. I’m definitely not impressed with the lack of help from the company for either the replacement product or refund for the loss of the large vanilla powder bag or for the difficulty making a cr card payment through their limited online payment system.

I like protein powder for dinner, not breakfast so while this protein powder tastes good I can’t use as much of it as I would like. I missed the fact that it has multiple B vitamins in it and after using it for dinner 2 nights in a row and not sleeping a wink it dawned on me to check the ingredients of the Good Protein, I found the culprit! The taste is good, no nasty stevia here, the salted Carmel is a bit sweet for me but I mix it with a scoop of Garden of Life raw unflavored protein powder and It cuts the sweet down plus unsweetened Ripple pea milk to make it creamy adds bonus protein and it’s delicious. The vanilla milkshake flavor I bought direct from website is very delicious! Unfortunately I have to use my Garden of Life unflavored for dinner but I mix with Ripple chocolate milk and unsweetened Ripple and it’s still ok.

After many years of searching for a vegan protein powder that is somewhat edible, I can happily say that this is the one I’ll be sticking with. Not sure why it’s so hard to make a vegan powder that somewhat resembles Whey, but hey, we’re here now. I can only speak for the cookies and cream flavor, but it’s definitely an easy drink. Not chalky, mixes pretty easy, and doesn’t taste like grass. What more can you ask for?

Great taste and blends nicely. I use it as one meal replacement just about every day. I add frozen banana, unsweetened almond milk, powdered butter butter and cucumber and ice cubes. Makes a thick delicious, nutritious smoothie.
