Platinum is aged 18 to 24 months. Pay the extra and get Platinum and not the Silver if you like
a true aroma basmati. Taste and aroma were wonderful when cooked. Not sticky. Lovely. Bag states best before 3 years, but I only have 11 months left. Also the bag had a doubled stitched seal at the top but the inner plastic bag is open (just so you know). Some rice was therefore out of the plastic bag and into the zippered pouch. I poured it all into a huge glass jar. The bag looked very shopworn from hanging around for 2+ years. Packaging needs improvement. Some reviewers said they had bits of plastic in their rice. I had none of that, but I poured it immediately into the glass jar. Rinses easily . I soaked it for an hour
as the bag said at least 1/2 hour. I find well aged rice often needs to be soaked for awhile. Would have given it a 5 out 5 except for poor dating and poor packaging.
NOTE: sometimes the platinum is less than the silver, not sure why, maybe price reduction … if poor expiry date or bags are very shopworm. Just guessing.

Not all rice is created equally. Honestly i spent way more time than I should trying to pick a decent basmati rice. I am so glad I picked this one. The grains are light, fluffy but with a slight nuttiness to it. There is no comparison to supermarket basmati and this.

The packaging was difficult to get into, which is a good thing, though I would have liked some closure on the inner plastic bag. I was quite concerned when I first opened the bag though, because all I could smell was a nasty chemical odor. The raw rice didn't smell much like basmati either, it smelled a bit like that chemical odor from the bag itself. I loved how long and perfect the rice grains looked though, pearly and almost luminescent. Breakage occurs of course, but most were just gloriously long. The rice really showed off its true character after I washed it and soaked it. It became just wondrously fragrant, delicate, individual, and so delicious I ate it plain. Not a hint of that chemical smell at all. I've tried several varieties of basmati, some better than others – but this is by far the best I've tried yet. If your rice doesn't smell like basmati eau de toilette initially, don't be put off by first impressions, nobody eats raw rice (I would hope). I would strongly recommend buying large quantities, as you'll find yourself making a LOT of rice once you taste this brand.
