Once upon a time, a barman wanted to craft the perfect cocktail. He went to his kitchen and started to look around. There were a couple of spirits that would be great to start with. He grabbed the bottle of dry gin and started to smell it. The smell was fantastic. So he decided to mix a gin basil smash.

He grabbed his shaker and opened the drawer to look for the muddler to muddle the basil but Oh Jez, there was no Muddler. So he went to the store and bought one. He came back and added the Gin but Oh Gosh, he didn't have a Jigger either. So he added 2 oz of gin give or take. Then he grabbed a lemon and searched for a reamer to get some freshly squeezed lemon juice but he didn't have any. So once again he tried to add 3/4 fl oz lemon juice give or take. As he didn't have a strainer either, some lemon seeds dropped in his cocktail.

"Nevermind," he thought, "it should taste the same…"

So he added another 1/3 fl oz Cane sugar Syrup and shaked the cocktail with ice. Then pour it in an old fashioned glass.

"This looks OK," he thought, "but something is missing."

So he grabbed an orange and looked for a Channel Knife to garnish the cocktail but once again he didn’t have any. He just had a rounded tip knife.

Anyway, he tried the cocktail and it tasted awful. It was too bitter from the lemon and too strong. On top of that, the lemon seeds were quite annoying. It was clearly undrinkable. So he threw the drink away.

Ultimately, the doorbell rang. It was his best friend who ran out of spirits and came over to enjoy a drink too. His friend brought the All in one Bar tool set. Together, they decided to give it another try. They used the exact same ingredients and this time they crafted the perfect Gin Basil Smash.
